Food Drive Details and Background:

For over 25 years the National Association of Letter Carriers, NALC, has lead the country’s largest, single-day food drive in the U.S. and the world! Food collected is distributed to union workers and their families when they are in need and to families in the community during the summer months when free and reduced school lunch programs are not available to children.

In recent years L.A. Labor has held first place for collecting the most food and we want to continue to be the record breaker! In order to do that we need your help for the following:

  •  May 11th is the day that the letter carriers collect food. Volunteers are needed to assist as driver helpers and in the Salvation Army Warehouse in Bell, CA, loading and unloading food items. Volunteers are asked to arrive at the Warehouse at 1:00 for p.m. for lunch and orientation. Assignments at 2:15/2:30 p.m. and end at around 8:00 p.m.
  • Also needed are volunteers from May 13th through June 15th for sorting and packing the food for delivery to our pantries and partner pantries. Please see flier for dates/times and other details.
