Making Change at Walmart

My name is Rosa Valenzuela, and I’m a mother of three children and a grandmother to three grandchildren. I’ve been a Walmart Associate for almost 20 years now at the Paramount store. I love the customers and my co-workers and I come to work each day and do the best job I can.

However, the job I have known for almost 20 years has come to an end. Just last week, two weeks shy of my 20th anniversary, I was unjustly terminated.

Can you call my store manager Stephanie Whitworth at 562-531-8240 and tell her that I should be reinstated?

Several months ago, management asked me to switch to the night shift for the short term to help out with understaffing. Of course, I agreed. One day a manager asked me to handle some work that normally gets covered by the day shift. I explained that the managers had switched my shift, and I was actually going off the clock just then. That manager wrote me up for ‘work performance’ for explaining to him that they had switched my shift.

I was very upset, and went to discuss the situation with upper management. Walmart management assured me this write up was not fair and would be removed from my file. However, it was never removed, and today this write up is counting against me and Walmart is firing me!

Now I am counting on community support to keep my job. Please call my store manager Stephanie Whitworth at 562-531-8240 and tell her that I should be reinstated.

Thank you for your support,

Rosa Valenzuela, OUR Walmart, Paramount, CA
